Position

The hut is in a wonderful, secluded location, on the slope above Kitzbühel, right in the Kitzbüheler Horn hiking area. The location is ideal for hikers and those seeking peace and quiet. Access by car via the toll road, the car remains on the road above, there are two options: either directly 10 minutes from above or 100 meters in front, then a steep meadow path down to the hut.

Distances

Alpine pasture area directly in front of the hut. The next hut with a service is the Alpenhaus (Hornbahn mountain station) 2km away. Enjoy the wonderful panorama from the Kitzbühel Alps over the Großvenediger to the 3,798m high Großglockner! The Alpenhaus is a popular destination in conjunction with the Alpine flower garden. A special nature experience is the new Karstweg, the hiking trail for the soul and the 300-meter-long kids' climbing trail. A hiking trail leads over the Trattenbachmulde to the Hornköpflhütte 4km away, where the Hornköpflsee reservoir is located. Kitzbühel 8km.

Wide glacier fields, deep green mountain lakes and impressive waterfalls characterize this beautiful cultural landscape.

Nearest town Kals in East Tyrol 7km, Matrei 27km, Lienz 38km, ski area Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei with 45km of slopes and 17 modern facilities 7km away. The ski area is the largest in East Tyrol and particularly ideal for families. Cross-country skiers will find wonderful tours around Kals that have received the Tyrolean cross-country ski trail seal of approval. The hut is also the ideal starting point for ski tours in the Glockner Group or Schober Group. Do you dare to take the royal tour of the Großglockner? In summer, you can easily get to the best starting points for long hikes by gondola. Between Kals and Matrei, Austria's highest mountains await you: the Großglockner at 3,798m and the Großvenediger at 3,674m. Many managed alpine pastures, a water viewing path, endless hiking trails, mountain lakes and a breathtaking panorama await you. The gondola takes you up to the top in a relaxed manner, even on your bike, and you can look forward to the many trails and downhill! 600m below the hut is the Lucknerhaus, an inn with traditional delicacies and international specialties. Top floor: storage room with 6 beds. Heating with wood stove and infrared radiator. Bathroom underfloor heating. If the temperature drops significantly below zero degrees, the water may no longer come out of the tap. Then there is bottled drinking water on site and the domestic water would have to be melted from snow like in the past. In front of the hut there is a garden with a seating area and a barbecue area with 2 large barbecue barrels and a wonderful view. In spring and autumn, white deer often graze right in front of the hut! This special feature only exists at the foot of the Großglockner near Kals!

Das Radfahren auf der Alm ist leider untersagt. Besuchen Sie den Klettersteig „Hoher Steg“ (teilweise für Anfänger aber eher anspruchsvoll). Fischen in ca. 12km (Bodendorf), Rafting direkt im Ort (Anmeldung im Gasthof), viele Wanderwege in der Umgebung.

Your car stays in the valley in a free, reserved parking space and you float up into the mountain landscape in just 10 minutes by cable car (train ticket not included in the price).
