The hut is located about 2.5 km from Obsteig, completely isolated and quiet, in the middle of the hiking area of the Mieminger Sonnenplateau, high above the Inn Valley. Here nature is almost untouched and the beauty of the larch meadows is protected. In autumn the needles turn a bright golden yellow and the locals say "the larches are burning!"

In front of the hut there is a garden with a well, grill, deck chairs. Cows graze next to the hut in spring and late summer.

Cross-country skiers will find wonderful tours around Kals that have received the Tyrolean cross-country ski trail seal of approval. The hut is also the ideal starting point for ski tours in the Glockner Group or Schober Group. Do you dare to take the royal tour of the Großglockner? In summer, you can easily get to the best starting points for long hikes by gondola. Between Kals and Matrei, Austria's highest mountains await you: the Großglockner at 3,798m and the Großvenediger at 3,674m. Many managed alpine pastures, a water viewing path, endless hiking trails, mountain lakes and a breathtaking panorama await you. The gondola takes you up to the top in a relaxed manner, even on your bike, and you can look forward to the many trails and downhill! 600m below the hut is the Lucknerhaus, an inn with traditional delicacies and international specialties. The hut was renovated in 2022 and lovingly and tastefully renovated. Top floor: storage room with 6 beds. Heating with wood stove and infrared radiator. Bathroom underfloor heating. If the temperature drops significantly below zero degrees, the water may no longer come out of the tap. Then there is bottled drinking water on site and the domestic water would have to be melted from snow like in the past. In front of the hut there is a garden with a seating area and a barbecue area with 2 large barbecue barrels and a wonderful view. In spring and autumn, white deer often graze right in front of the hut! This special feature only exists at the foot of the Großglockner near Kals!

But leisurely cyclists and mountain bike enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Wildkogel Arena. In our holiday region, a wide WildkogelActive program is offered for young and old, with something for every taste and every weather.

Position

Ski-in, ski-out, just as you wish. The hut is in the middle of the Wildkogel ski and hiking area, in the far west of Salzburg, very sunny, quiet, in a completely secluded location. In winter, take the Smaragdbahn from Bramberg or the Neukirchen gondola and a short descent to the hut (not very suitable for non-skiers). In winter, you can park your car for free in Bramberg directly opposite the Smaragdbahn (approx. 200m away). In summer, you can drive your own car from Bramberg along a 15km forest path (1x barrier fee per week, €60 per car) to the hut, where there is a car parking space in the pasture area (fenced, but without liability) or you can also take the gondola and walk about 20 minutes down to the hut. 

Distances

Piste and ski area right outside the door, ski school on site by the gondola lift! In winter there are a few managed huts in the ski area in the immediate vicinity. The longest toboggan run in the world goes from the Wildkogel to the town of Bramberg, an incredible 14km and with an altitude difference of 1300m. There is also an evening toboggan run here 3 times a week (not included in the ski pass) and the run is illuminated until 10pm. In summer it is an ideal starting point for long hikes or bike tours around the Wildkogel area, into the numerous side valleys and through the Hohe Tauern National Park with waterfalls, mountain lakes and many managed alpine pastures. The hut is the ideal starting point for e-bike tours or bike and hike tours. There are countless ways to ride and hike the surrounding mountains, peaks and side valleys. The nearest places for shopping are Neukirchen or Bramberg (in winter) can be reached by gondola lift or in summer by car to Bramberg in 15km.

The hut has a cozy living room with seating area and satellite TV. Kitchenette with wood stove, oven, gas stove (2 plates), mini oven, coffee machine, kettle, refrigerator. Stairs via ladder to the gallery with 4 beds. 1 four-bed room (double bunk bed), 1 shower/toilet, hair dryer. Heating with wood stove, electric boiler, electricity (220V) available. Terrace in front of the hut with seating, grill. Smoking is not permitted in the hut. Additional costs on site subject to minor changes

During a summer holiday in the Wildkogel Arena, which is located between the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern National Park, numerous leisure activities invite you to discover, experience and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
On varied hikes of varying difficulty levels, you can get to know the beautiful landscape of our holiday region, the Hohe Tauern National Park, in a sporty way, while looking at the many impressive peaks of the Hohe Tauern. The incomparable panorama of the Wildkogel is perfectly showcased on the panorama and slide path. But leisurely cyclists and mountain bike enthusiasts will also get their money's worth in the Wildkogel Arena. It's up to you whether you explore the area on your own by bike or take part in a guided mountain bike tour. It's also really exciting on the 4 km long mountain cart route. In our holiday region, a wide WildkogelActive program is offered for young and old, with something for every taste and every weather.
After a great day of hiking or biking, you can look forward to numerous restaurants on the mountain and in the valleys during your summer holiday in the Wildkogel Arena, which will prepare delicious Pinzgau dishes in a cozy atmosphere. And the Kogel-Mogel Adventure Arena is ready for your children: an exciting wooden playground right at the mountain station of the Wildkogelbahn.

The hut is wonderfully quiet and isolated above Donnersbach, with a wide view of the surrounding mountains, at the end of a forest path. Accessible with snow chains in winter.

Donnersbach ist durch die Planneralm, dem höchstgelegenen Skidorf der Steiermark (1.600 – 2.200 m), mit 100 % Naturschnee von Anfang Dezember bis Ende April, 5 Liftanlagen, 15km Pisten ein beliebter Wintersportort. Rodelmöglichkeit 1,5km. Im Sommer genießen Sie die gesunde Höhenluft und die prachtvolle, waldreiche Umgebung im Herzen der Donnersbacher Tauern, das Naturdenkmal der „Donnersbacher Klamm“, viele Kilometer ausgebaute Spazier- und Wanderwege und gut eingerichtete Gasthöfe. Winter info

From the beginning of December to the end of April, the Planneralm guarantees excellent piste conditions with 100% natural snow due to its favorable location (1,600 - 2,200 m).
Im Snowboardpark „Snowvalley Planneralm“ wurden 2 neue Mega-Jumps gebaut, die zusammen mit der erweiterten Kikerline wieder einen megageilen Winter erwarten lassen!!
